AMG is the in-house skunk works for Mercedes Benz; creating rare and powerful versions of Mercedes finest vehicles. However, across the globe, their existing online presence was inconsistent and lacked unity. The site was not built on a responsive design foundation creating optimization issues for many mobile and tablet users. It also utilized Adobe Flash which was unsupported on apple phones and tablets. AMG Global wanted to update their online presence to address these challenges while reflecting the power, precision and excellence of the AMG Global brand.
BlacQube took the challenge to not only create a powerful brand presence, but one that utilized an optimized multi-media platform to allow customers the ability to get detailed information on over 40 Mercedes models. This web experience would also serve various global regions offering multiple languages to meet audience demographics. I was tasked to direct and design the renewed online presence.
Focusing on a highly mobile audience, we built the global experience on solid responsive design practices. Videos, interactive car configurators and animated interactions were developed with HTML 5 and CSS to deliver an immersive experience that Flash could no longer offer to all users. Users could configure their cares with colors and various other options while seeing both their interior and exteriors choices via 360 views. With the launch of the new site AMG was able to offer a powerful, global, interactive experience to its customers and fans regardless of their location or device.
